About Me
Hi, I'm Seth. I'm a political science and Chinese student at CUNY Hunter College in NYC. I'm a visiting researcher at Bismarck Analysis. I spend my spare time researching various health hypotheses, watching trashy sitcom television with my wife, and writing about whatever is piquing my interest at the moment. This is a small personal website for the things I am thinking about, writing, creating, and so on.
To describe what I believe as succintly as possible: I'm a tech-optimist, meaning I believe in the power of technology and innovation to solve problems; I'm a capitalist, meaning I believe in and support free market structures; I'm a humanist, which means I believe in the development of systems which serve humanity and facilitate our better natures in service of us living better lives; and lastly, I'm a futurist, meaning I believe in the continual upward ascent of humanity towards ever greater mastery over the material world.
I'm fascinated by: sociology, the science of development and capital formation, energy as a field (especially nuclear), scarcity-eliminating tech (desalination, aquaculture, hydroponics, sustainable infrastructure), unsettled environments (the Arctic, the deep ocean, space), aesthetics and the curation of modern beauty, algorithm culture and postmodernity, Chinese politics/society, near-death experiences, cooking, chronic disease (in particular invisible illness), and the works of HP Lovecraft and Chuck Pahlaniuk.
